About
Hi, I’m Tim, aka thebankshow, and this is my site. I split my time between Glastonbury, CT and the small hamlet where I grew up: New Lebanon, NY.
I’m a proud small town native: graduating from New Lebanon Central School in a massive class of 36 people. Albeit small, the school was a tight enough community that I grew to know quite a bit of upper and lower classmen as well. I continued my education nearby at Rensselaer Polytechnic Insitute (RPI), where I graduated in May 2006 with a dual Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology (concentration in Web Technologies) and Computer Science, with a minor in Economics.

Fast forward a few years. Currently I work for a Fortune 500 insurance and financial services company as a Senior Business Technology Consultant. I’m a liason between technical people and business people. “I have people skills; I am good at dealing with people. Can’t you understand that? What the hell is wrong with you people?” – Office Space In all seriousness, it’s a great job. I didn’t have a clear understanding of what I wanted to pursue out of school, so the rotational Leadership Development Program I originally joined out of college allowed me to experience different types of IT work. The consulting group has really given me the chance to continue to experience more than I could have in an isolated position while allowing me to have elevated levels of responsibility.
Despite my fairly technical background, I shied away from spending my days heads down programming or in similar roles. However, my technical skills do come in handy – typically when I want to get a computer to do something productive and the Zidane headbutt to the monitor proves ineffective.
I enjoy aesthetic design and problem solving – outside of work I’m an amateur web designer with a few projects that I do as a hobbies. I love figuring out how things work or how they are put together and how to make them better. So, while I’m pretty creative, I’d have to say my forte is improving existing things – a bit of a reverse engineer mixed with re-designer.
Besides that I try to stay fairly active. I enjoy playing soccer, snowboarding, biking (road and mountain), rock climbing, riding motorcycles, basketball, tennis, and heeling. I dabble a bit with relay triathlons and golf as well. I also spend a lot of time listening to and playing music.
Most importantly I enjoy having a good time: whether that’s hanging out with friends, going out for a drink, traveling, listening to music, or just relaxing. Whatever the case, it usually includes a lot of laughter.
